There may be plans to use the debris from the old Bonner Bridge when it’s demolished. Sam Walker, writing for the Outer Banks Voice, gives a heads up on an upcoming hearing on artificial reefs.
“When the current Bonner Bridge is demolished after the new span opens in 2018, plans are already being worked on to add much of the remains of the half-century old span to a series of artificial reefs offshore.
The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries’ Artificial Reef Program will hold a public meeting Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Dare County Administrative Building on Roanoke Island.”
