Fall may be the best time to visit the Outer Banks–just ask any local and they’ll tell you exactly that. The rush of the summer has slowed, the weather is spectacular and there is still lots to do, as Holly Van Auken writing for the Virginian Pilot tells it.
“The BREEZY days of autumn are here, and that’s reason enough to head south.
The Outer Banks is where Hampton Roads locals go to get away from it all, and there’s no better time than after the hordes of tourists have gone.”
Perhaps we go because it’s close, around two hours for most. Or maybe we go because we can do it on the cheap – or at least for less than a trip to the beaches in California, Florida or Hawaii.”
