The 110th Anniversary of the First Flight is happening today at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. The celebration will include a flurry of activities and tributes throughout the day, as detailed by Sam Walker in this great article over on the Outer Banks Voice.
“Activities to mark the Wright brothers’ historic first flight from Big Kill Devil Hill take place on Tuesday and will likely be the last inside the Centennial Pavilion at the national memorial.
The First Flight Society and National Park Service coordinate the events at the site of Orville Wright’s historic heavier-than-air powered flight that took place on Dec. 17, 1903.
Entrance fees at the Wright Brothers National Memorial are waived for the duration of Tuesday’s events.”
