Kelly’s Closing Will Be an End of an Era.
Since 1985, Kelly’s Outer Banks Tavern has been a part of local food and entertainment. With the announcement that Mike Kelly will be closing his flagship restaurant in Nags Head as November ends, an icon of Outer Banks life will become a part of the past. There are still some details to be worked out, as Russ Lay of the Outer Banks Voice reports.
“Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern will close sometime between Nov. 26 and Nov. 30, owner Mike Kelly said Wednesday after the Nags Head Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Planning Board recommendation to allow German-based grocer Lidl to build a 36,000-square-foot store on the 4.9-acre site.
The parcel also includes the Kelly’s Professional Center and houses Kelly’s Catering Service”
