After months of wrangling and indecision the North Carolina budget for the coming year is finally ready for a vote. Writing for the Outer Banks Voice, Sam Walker outlines areas in which the budget will impact the Outer Banks.
“Lawmakers revealed late Wednesday their latest proposal to update the state budget for the fiscal year that started July 1, and it includes specific plans for Oregon Inlet.
The highlight of the roughly $21.3 billion spending plan is a teacher pay raise on average of 7 percent statewide, and preservation of teaching assistant positions in third grade classrooms.
It also gives the governor the power to potentially kick start the delayed replacement of the Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.”
