Rob Morris reports in the Outer Banks Voice that two years after pumpingĀ 4.6 million cubic yards of sand onto Nags Head beaches, a study by the town’s engineering firm shows the beach is still stable.
“Critics have said the beach seems much narrower than it was when the project was finished. But Coastal Science and Engineering says that most of the sand has remained on the beach or in the near-shore system, doing its job to protect houses, accesses, roads and utilities from storm damage.”
